Emily Liles
The Relationship Builder
When teaching English in Vietnam, Emily Liles discovered a truth that has carried with her through life and her career: no matter where you are, everyone is the same. “I was dropped into a country where I didn’t know anybody, where I couldn’t speak the language,” she said. “When I got lost, strangers would help me. It taught me about the kindness of strangers and showed me how alike everybody is.” Today, that understanding motivates her as a Raleigh Realtor as she strives to create deep relationships with buyers and sellers in the Triangle.
Emily graduated from Weber State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in neuroscience and spent a brief time as a Kindergarten teacher before obtaining her license to become a Raleigh Realtor. “I like understanding how the brain works,” she said, explaining that her psychology degree helps her better understand a person’s motivations and actions. “Working with kids taught me a lot about people in general, too. Everybody is important and special, and as a teacher, you care about each child so much. That same care transfers to adults, too.”
She believes strong relationships are critical to the success of any Realtor. “It’s important to genuinely care about people and get to know them, and real estate is based completely on relationships,” she said. “There are a lot of people who misrepresent real estate. Some people get licensed with intentions of making a quick buck, but that’s not what real estate is about. It can’t be about the money. Even when the transaction is over, you must be willing to help that person out if they need it. You have to care about them.”
Emily joined the Jim Allen Group in 2021 after experiencing a chance encounter with Jim at a Top Producers event, when she introduced herself on an elevator after he spoke at the event. “It was the most serendipitous moment of my life,” she explained. “He’s the #1 real estate agent on the East Coast and I was new to real estate.” After meeting with Jim several times in the coming weeks and learning about his company’s approach, she knew without hesitation she wanted to join the Jim Allen Group. It’s the company’s team-like and client-focused atmosphere, experienced and well-educated agents, and connections that make it a top real estate company, she says.
Emily is a member of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors. In her spare time, she raises chickens, and she enjoys art and interior design. “I love seeing homes and how they’re made,” she said. “I can definitely see a vision for something and know how to turn it into something better.”
