Stretch your dollar with a short drive to these bedroom communities

It’s no secret – the larger cities have great entertainment, an abundance of career opportunities, and many other qualities which make them an alluring place for would-be homeowners. It’s also no secret that these qualities, among other reasons, are part of what makes big-city living so much more expensive than other possibilities like bedroom communities. Additionally, buyers have to overcome the potential difficulty in competing with multiple offers in busy cities. Such is the case with Raleigh; as opportunities to buy homes in Raleigh are becoming increasingly in demand, buyers are expanding their searches to bedroom communities bordering the city.

Bedroom communities acquire their name for being small communities or neighborhoods built directly outside of the larger cities and house mainly those residents who commute into the city for work. This commute to and from work allows homeowners to make their money go farther by avoiding the more expensive, limited square footage and smaller lot sizes of larger cities. Buyers are offered more upgrades and features in bedroom communities like the extended space of a 3-car garage or an overall larger homesite — a perfect fit for families. Similar property features could include a ranch plan or more square footage of living space, something that is often lacking in pricey city markets. And these advantages come at no cost to commuters as highways US401, NC64/264 and I-540 provide easier commutes to work locations across the Triangle.

Buyers should keep an eye out for new communities flourishing in Holly Springs just outside of Raleigh, and Rolesville, located a short drive from Raleigh and Wake Forest.

In Holly Springs, the population count has increased twentyfold in the past two decades. This is in part due to the town’s charm with events and attractions such as Hollyfest, the Cultural Center, the Performing Arts Theatre and the Happy Holly Days Parade.

Rolesville is also a popular choice for its great promise and opportunity for commercial growth as Realtor.com named it a “Boom Town,” one of the 10 fastest growing towns in America. New home communities that buyers should be aware of are Barrington, featuring gourmet kitchens and open floor plans among other beautiful attributes, and Carlton Pointe, featuring a large pool with a clubhouse, walking trails, two children’s playgrounds and other family-friendly amenities.

Finding your home in a smaller town satisfies other desirable conditions such as a growing, friendly community for children’s socializing and strong public schools to foster their academic success. They offer recreational attractions including parks, and boast lower crime rates.

As the alluring aspects of a large city like entertainment, shopping and career opportunities can be accessed easily from directly outside the city and at a lower cost, smart home buyers consider the added value of buying into these flourishing bedroom communities.
