How Long Have You Called North Carolina Home?
71 years. I was born in Burlington, NC. My family moved to Fuquay-Varina when I was a teenager, and 27526 has been my zip code ever since. Outside of that, the only time I’ve lived anywhere else is when I was in Greenville, attending ECU.
If You Had Unlimited Time and Resources, How Would You Spend Your Days?
If I had unlimited money, I’d get myself a new back, so I could go back to golfing three times a week. Otherwise, I’d continue working, because I love what I do. The only thing I’d change is I wouldn’t work on the weekends in the fall, so I could go watch the ECU Pirates play.
What’s Your Favorite Local Restaurant?
Bellini Italian Cuisine in Holly Springs. I’ve traveled internationally regularly for 30 years, and Bellini’s is the only place that comes close to the food I had in Italy.
How Would You Describe Yourself in One Word, and Why?
Friendly. I get along with everyone I meet, and I love meeting people.
Asheville or Wilmington?
Asheville. I don’t like the beach. There’s so much to do in the mountains. It’s much cooler, the weather is much better, and there are plenty of great breweries to get a beer and enjoy the weather.
What Causes/Charities Do You Care About?
I’m an active member of the First Methodist Church in Fuquay-Varina, and we’ve always been active in giving back to the community. I was chairman of the board of trustees with the church and helped create an Alcoholics Anonymous group that meets there on Sunday nights. I’m also active with the Fuquay-Varina Emergency Food Pantry, which delivers food to those in need. And I’m a supporter of the MMIA (Military Mission in Action).
Who are the People (and Pets) that Keep You Motivated?
My wife, who encourages me to get out of the house regularly, and my cat, Snickers. Mostly, I keep myself motivated and push myself to do my best every day.
