Kaylena Barnette
Marketing CoordinatorWhat Does Being a Part of The Jim Allen Group Mean to You?
Being part of The Jim Allen Group, to me, has meant stepping out of my comfort zone and learning new things that I probably wouldn’t have learned otherwise.
How Long Have You Lived in NC?
About 20 years
If You Had Unlimited Time and Resources, How Would You Spend Your Days?
I would do a lot of reading or binge-watching shows I haven’t had time for. Maybe try to DIY some home renovations. Go see my favorite artists live in concert. And I would try to pursue some passion projects. Working as a graphic designer has meant that I don’t really do it for fun anymore, and I have a lot of ideas I would like to explore!
What is Your Favorite Local Restaurant and Why?
One of my favorite spots is El Jefecito. It’s actually a food truck! (They do have a restaurant, but I have never been, so I can’t speak to that.) They have such a unique take on the classic food truck taco, and I love how they blend different flavors – think chicken with pimento cheese and a sweet chili sauce – and somehow make it work!
How Would You Describe Yourself in One Word and Why?
Carefree! I like to enjoy life and joke around, and I can get along with just about anyone!
Asheville or Wilmington? Why?
Asheville for sure! I went to school in Boone, so I am partial to the mountains. I prefer cooler weather, so that is a big reason, but I also just like the natural beauty and the artsy vibe of Asheville. Also… I am not a fan of sand…
What Causes/Charities Do You Care About?
I’m really passionate about animal rights and welfare. I would love to donate to or volunteer with companies that advocate for protection against animal abuse, promote spaying/neutering to prevent overcrowding and euthanasia in shelters, protect and rehabilitate endangered species, and oppose animal cruelty in the fashion, food, and entertainment industries.
Who are the People (and Pets) that Keep You Motivated?
My husband Logan and our pets, Winnie and Maestro!
