Last-minute Valentine’s Day Ideas in the Triangle

The JAG Team

While this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration may be a little different this year, there are still plenty of ways to support some of the small businesses in the Raleigh-Durham area, while treating yourself and your sweetie to a romantic evening. Here are some of our picks:

Trophy Brewing Company’s “Love Shacks”
Looking for a way to go out to dinner while being socially distant? Trophy Brewing has upgraded their outdoor greenhouses by adding Valentine’s themed decorations to each one. Couples can enjoy a special meal of a large heart-shaped pizza and a bottle of wine inside one for $60, or take it to go if they prefer. There are many add-ons available as well, such as a bouquet of flowers or a 4-pack of beer.

Personalized date night baskets:
Vita Vite is a great spot for date night year-round, and this year they are creating a cute gift basket for a romantic night in. The basket includes a cocktail recipe book, a bottle of fine wine, a cheese board and cutlery set, a wine tumbler, and a wine-themed candle. They also have a great gift shop with unique items for anyone and everyone if you are looking for a last-minute gift.

Craft cocktail kit:
Looking to try your hand at bartending? Try a craft cocktail kit from Deco Raleigh. Either shop online or make an appointment for in-person shopping and grab a delicious kit made by a local craft vendor. They also have a wide variety of unique gifts to add to your kit as well.

Virtual cooking class:
Looking to enjoy a special meal with your special someone without leaving home? Try the virtual cooking class offered by HL Catering. For $50 a couple, they provide itemized shopping lists, recipes, and a recording of the class afterward.

Virtual Symphony Concert:
The NC Symphony is streaming a special Valentine’s Day concert from the Meymandi Concert Hall on Saturday, February 13th at 8 PM. Tickets are $21.46 and listeners can enjoy the performance of various selections such as Debussy’s Claire De Lune and Bizet’s Carmen.

In addition to all of these options, you can always support the local restaurants in the Triangle with either socially distant dining or ordering take-out. Many of the top-tier restaurants, like The Capital Grille, Angus Barn, and Margeaux’s will be offering specials for Valentine’s Day weekend. However you choose to spend your Valentine’s Day in the City of Oaks, there is no doubt the local flare from our small business community will make it special.
