The JAG Team

The growing town of Apex is a suburb located southwest of downtown Raleigh, with direct access via US 1. Incorporated in 1873 as a stop on the Chatham Railroad, this town maintains its quaint charm, while incrementally adding more local businesses and residences for a suburban feel. The community is situated in close proximity to the Research Triangle Park and downtown Raleigh. Apex is a great town for anyone who is looking for a high quality of life, a short commute, great schools, and plenty to do.

Apex is conveniently located 17 miles from the Research Triangle Park, 16 miles from downtown Raleigh, 7 miles from downtown Cary, 12 miles from NC State University, 22 miles from UNC Chapel Hill, 25 miles from Duke University, and 62 miles from Fort Bragg. Apex is a short distance from many of the major attractions in the Triangle, including PNC Arena, Carter Finley Stadium, William B. Umstead State Park, the NC Museum of Art, and more.

According to GreatSchools.org, the schools in Apex are top rated and some of the best public schools in the Triangle. Apex is home to 8 Elementary schools, 5 Middle schools, and 3 high schools, all of which produced high performing students according to the North Carolina Department of Instruction. Many of the schools rank in the Top 50 schools in the state of North Carolina, according to both Niche.com and U.S. News and World Report

There is an abundance of activities available to do for residents of all ages. Jordan Lake State Recreational Area offers hiking trails along the lakeshore, swimming beaches, boating ramps, and camping. A great place for the entire family to visit is the North Carolina Railway Museum And New Hope Valley Railway, where you can take a ride on a locomotive and take a self-guided tour through the museum. The Halle Cultural Arts Center hosts a number of musical and theatrical performances, art exhibits, and movies throughout the year. There are various options for locally crafted libations, including Cloer Vineyards, Brueprint Brewing Company, and Southern Peak Brewery. There are tons of local shops and restaurants to choose from, including The Rusty Bucket,  Cocoon Gallery, Salem Street Pub, Anna’s Pizzeria, and Daniel’s Restaurant.  Additionally, there are several small local parks and access to the American Tobacco Trail for walkers, bikers, strollers, dog owners, and runners. New commercial buildings are constantly being constructed in this fast-growing town, which also brings more retail and dining options for nearby residents.

If you are considering where to settle in the Triangle, either as a transplant or current resident looking for a new home, Apex may be a great fit if you enjoy a suburban lifestyle with a short commute and top-rated schools.
