It’s hard not to fall in love with Rolesville, a family-friendly community with a long history that began as a center of farming and tobacco. First established in 1837, Rolesville is Wake County’s second oldest township—just behind Raleigh—and the community has been incredibly successful at retaining its small-town atmosphere, making it the kind of town you’ll love calling home.

There are less than 20 miles between this town and Raleigh, and its close proximity to the Capital City makes it the perfect place to put down roots without sacrificing all the city offers. As 8,000 residents can attest, its accolades as one of the safest communities in North Carolina are accurate. In fact, the town of Rolesville has already enacted a Main Street Vision Plan, which is dedicated to creating a walkable, bikeable downtown to keep its growth maintained and safe. This plan is also ensuring its small-town feel is retained, that it has a distinct town center, and that it’s an equitable home and business destination for all. That means Rolesville will only become a more wonderful place to live.

If you’re looking for things to do in Rolesville, start by simply exploring the town. Numerous annual events add to its quaint community feel. Throughout the year, craft and BBQ festivals and annual parades are reminders that small-town life can be found in the heart of Wake County. In the late summer, family movie nights invite residents to enjoy a free movie under the stars at the Rolesville Middle School football field. Enjoy an outdoor concert series in the spring at the Mill Bridge Nature Park, which offers free music and food trucks for all to enjoy. And that same nature park is another gateway to the rest of Wake County thanks to greenway trails that connect it to other Wake Forest Parks and Recreation trails. You may just find a favorite new family-owned restaurant. From parks to museums to the 50-acre stone quarry scuba park at Rolesville, there’s always something fun to do.

Like other small communities in the Triangle, Rolesville is also growing and will continue to do so as its Main Street grows and brings new opportunities to the community. New construction is popular in the area, and in a town like Rolesville, you’ll find numerous single-family homes with plenty of space to grow. However, the city is also dedicated to creating a wide range of housing options to accommodate the needs of its citizens, so apartments, condos, and townhomes provide more affordable options as well. The great thing is the people of Rolesville will make you feel welcome to be a part of the community no matter where you end up.
