Situated 40 miles north of Raleigh and close to the Virginia border, Henderson, the seat of Vance County, offers a true small-town, serene experience. Anyone looking for a peaceful neighborhood, a larger home, and a homesite at a lower cost than other suburbs closer to downtown Raleigh, Henderson is a great option to consider. 

One of the greatest benefits to living in Henderson is the much lower cost of living than most of the other areas of the Triangle. According to, the median home value in Henderson is $88,600, compared to Wake Forest at $345,000, and Raleigh at $273,900. This means that homebuyers that are looking for larger homesites and more bang for their buck out of their new home would have better luck in Henderson than they would in a community closer to Raleigh. The overall cost of living is also much lower in Henderson.  

Henderson is the perfect escape from the city, with rural, small-town charm and a historic downtown district, which has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. Downtown Henderson is home to many mom and pop shops that strive to maintain a sense of community and revitalize the buildings in the downtown area. There are several locally owned restaurants near downtown, including Uncle Llew’s and George’s Restaurant. Henderson is also in close proximity to Kerr Lake, which has 11 recreational areas with boat launches, camping, picnic areas, and fishing access. 

For anyone who loves country living with larger homesites and affordable housing, Henderson is a great community to consider calling home.
