Journey to Space | North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, 11 W. Jones Street, Raleigh

See if you have what it takes to live and work in space. The NC Museum of Natural Science’s Journey to Space exhibit immerses you in the challenges astronauts face, from life-support limitations to zero gravity. Step aboard a rotating mock-up of the Destiny Lab, try operating a robotic arm, and test your motor skills with a space glove. Explore authentic artifacts like Neil Armstrong’s Apollo 11 helmet and gloves. And hear firsthand from astronauts about their experiences. Discover cutting-edge space technology and the future of exploration, including humanity’s next frontier: Mars. It’s a thrilling experience for explorers of all ages. Admission is free for museum members. Otherwise, adults are $16, children ages 3 to 12 are $12, and children ages 2 and under are free. Senior, student, and military discounts are available.
There’s a Yeti in the Garden Winter Scavenger Hunt | JC Raulston Arboretum, 4415 Beryl Road, Raleigh
When: Now through February 2, 2025, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kids of all ages are invited to JC Raulston Arboretum for “There’s a Yeti in the Garden!” — a free, self-guided winter scavenger hunt running now through Sunday, February 2, 2025, during garden open hours. Participants are invited to explore the gardens to locate two friendly yetis, each with its own hiding spot. No clues are provided; adventurers must rely on their observation skills. Upon finding the yeti with a treasure chest, scanning the nearby QR code will reveal instructions to open it, allowing participants to take an item or trade one. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions. Admission is free.


Akeelah and the Bee | Raleigh Little Theatre, 301 Pogue Street, Raleigh
When: February 7-23, 2025, Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 6 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m.
Akeelah and the Bee is a play about 11-year-old Akeelah, whose gift for words lands her a place in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. It tells the story of how Akeelah overcomes numerous challenges in her Chicago neighborhood and how her tenacity brings together her entire neighborhood. The show is recommended for ages 8 and up. Admission is $20 for adults and $16 for children 12 and under.
Seussical | North Carolina State University Theatre
When: Thursday through Saturday, February 20-22 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, February 22 and 23 at 2 p.m.
Take a sweet musical deep dive into the works of Dr. Seuss. You’ll see all the favorite Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Lazy Maizie, and the cast of Whoville. It’s a fun romp alongside The Cat in the Hat and friends. Tickets range from $12 to $32.

Pals and Gals Valentine’s Party | City of Raleigh Museum, 220 Fayetteville St., Raleigh

Celebrate your dearest friendships with a night at the City of Raleigh Museum. The Pals and Gals Valentine’s Party is your chance to kick back and make vintage-inspired cards, drink wine, and sample from an assortment of local chocolates. Guests get two glasses of wine, chocolate, and crafting supplies. Admission is $20 for members and $24 for non-members.
Taste Carolina Walking and Tasting Tours | Downtown Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill

Join Taste Carolina’s welcoming tour guides as they take you through a Farm-to-Table walking tour to dine in some of the Triangle’s top local restaurants. Guides take small groups of 15 people or less to locally-owned restaurants to talk with chefs, learn about the culinary landscape of the Triangle area’s cities, and sample food and beverages from the restaurants. Triangle Restaurant Week | Greater Triangle area
When: January 27 through February 2, 2025
One of the most beloved winter events in the Triangle is Triangle Restaurant Week, a celebration of the culinary excellence found across the Raleigh-Durham area. Choose from participating restaurants across the region. Restaurants provide three-course menu options and fixed pricing, which gives guests the opportunity to sample affordably from the region’s finest dining options. Pricing for the week is $15 for a 3-course lunch and between $25-$50 for a 2- or 3-course dinner. Price does not include beverages, tax, or gratuity. Outdoor events
Skate the Square at Fenton | 21 Fenton Main St., Cary
When: Now through February 9, 2025, Monday-Thursday from 3-9 p.m., Friday from 3-10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday from 11-8 p.m.
Get rid of the winter doldrums at Fenton, Cary’s hot outdoor district. Skate the Square at Fenton’s outdoor skating rink into February. It’s one of the top winter events in the Triangle that you don’t want to miss. Admission is $18 for 75 minutes of skating time and skate rental is included in the admission price.
Triangle Walking Tours | Raleigh, Durham, Cary, and Chapel Hill
