ZEBULON, NC COMMUNITY GUIDE Learn About the Local Amenities in Zebulon, NC

Located in the easternmost part of Wake County, Zebulon is a small community that was pushing nearly 8,000 residents as of the 2020 Census. Zebulon (pronounced “Zeb-u-lin” by North Carolina natives) is known for Five County Stadium, home of the Carolina Mudcats, a minor league baseball team. Zebulon is a part of the larger Research Triangle region and features several major corporations, such as GlaxoSmithKline and US Food Services. This town is conveniently located to Research Triangle Park, and downtown Raleigh, which is just one reason for its amazing growth.

ZEBULON HISTORY

Though initially home to nothing more than a couple of farms and a one-room schoolhouse, the town of Zebulon was first recognized in 1907, after the Raleigh and Pamlico Sound Railroad Company built on the land. Zebulon took its name from Zebulon Baird Vance, the governor of North Carolina during the Civil War. During that same year, the town held its first election, in which Thomas Horton was elected mayor. It didn’t take long before Zebulon began to grow due to a boom in the tobacco market through the 1920s. Later, this Wake County community would annex neighboring Wakefield to increase its size
